Civic'd Prototyping

This project developed from the Open Charlotte Brigade (back then it was Code for Charlotte) Hack for Change event in 2017. It's our hope that Civic'd will serve as a tool to increase civic engagement and political participation especially among millennial voters.


VoteSmarterNC Prototyping

VoteSmarterNC is an initiative to provide information to residents of their state representatives' voting habits on bills and resolutions in the North Carolina General Assembly (NCGA).

Current development focuses on building a tool using Python and Scrapy library which extracts data from the NCGA website in a usable format (JSON or CSV) for consumption by developers, journalists, scientists, and interested citizens. CMPD Explorers Christmas Project Prototyping

Each year since 1974 CMPD provides Christmas presents for underprivileged children throughout Charlotte. This has been done by a tedious paper-based organizational process that included school counselors nominating families and CMPD working with partners to hold toy drives, allocate toys, and make deliveries. In 2016 Code for Charlotte built a digital platform that helped organize and speed up the process, allowing CMPD to deliver Christmas to over 1,700 children.
